摘要:This study investigates the identitypractices of three virtual communities directed toEnglish teachers – “English Language Teachers”,“English Teachers in Brazil”, and “I am an EnglishTeacher” – in order to understand how teachers’professional identities are constructed in thediscourse of community members. The study isgrounded on Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough,2000). The research methodology is interpretiveand the analysis seeks identity representations thatmaterialise in users’ linguistic choices. Findingsreveal an attempt to set a traditional professionalidentity for foreign language teachers in theirrespective communities.
