摘要:Bullying is now out of the school through the technologies of information and communication. For this reason, researchers are now analyzing two phenomena related with peer harassment: bullying and cyberbullying. Several studies have pointed out the importance of family communication in bullying behaviors. Indeed, previous research has shown that open communication between parents and children is a protective factor against victimization in bullying. Research analyzing the influence of family communication in cyberbullying is still scarce, but results from the studies available showed similar resulted than that found in traditional bullying. Our purpose was to analyze the influence of family communication in traditional and internet victimization. We have analyzed this relationship in victims of traditional bullying, victims of cyberbullying and victim of both types of bullying (polivictimization). Data from 1607 secondary schools students from Castilla-la Mancha are presented. Results have confirmed that several students suffered polivictimization although girls were more victimized in both ways than boys. Results have also shown the importance of improving family communication to protect children from victimization and confirmed the influence of the communication problems in victimization processes. The fact that bullying is now going online show us that prevention and intervention efforts has to be directed not only to the schools but also to the family and community. Professionals out of school are needed to work in these two important contexts.
