La construcción de la memoria es un proceso que permite la constitución de un diálogo entre las relaciones del pasado con el presente vivido, de tal manera que la memoria está ligada con los recuerdos, los cuales permiten construir un puente entre el pasado y el presente, siendo la memoria una herramienta que sirve para unir ideas y, a su vez, para ejercer vínculos sociales que permitan construir identidad, tanto individual como colectiva, dentro de un marco en el cual, se establecen relaciones directas entre las sociedades. Se considera a la memoria, como aquel instrumento que tiene el sujeto para recordar algún evento en particular y que a través del lenguaje lo pueda comunicar con otros y evocar ese pasado que recuerdan. Cuando se producen estas comunicaciones y se expresan a través de narraciones se construyen memorias, y el fútbol no ha sido la excepción para evocar momentos en los cuales, los sujetos se unen dentro de un contexto (bien sea estadio, familia, barra brava o vecindad) que les permite compartir sentimientos que logran expresarse por medio de un determinado color de camiseta.
