摘要:In the course of making project for the Parliament building in Belgrade it has been planned to decorate facade with series of stone figures, which with their attributes should symbolize different kinds of human activities. This idea had not been realized and only material traces of this idea were nine plaster models (that remained from the initial 32) about 1.5 meter high, arranged along parliament corridors. Unfortunately sculptures have been heavily damaged in October 2000 but before that with the help of the National Museum they have been registered and photographed. The following sculptures were made during 1925 and 1926 by the artists from Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia in accordance with the Yugoslav idea personified also in the building itself: Dragomir Arambašić, Defense - Army; Petar Palavičini, Science (three figures); Živojin Lukić, Trade; Ivo Kerdić, Artisanship; Lojze Dolinar, Transport (two figures); Ivan Zajec, Politician; Dragomir Arambašić, Miner; Robert Žan Ivanović, Architect and Ivan Napotnik, Gardener (individual figures). Concerning the style sculptures are rather uniform as they generally ensue from the poetics of the third decade realism that is in our art characterized by the aspiration for conciseness and geometrization of shapes although in some of the works we can notice certain elements of academism. However, they are much too heterogeneous in their projects so according to external characteristics they would have not represented harmonious ensemble. It was probably the reason why, as it was intended, after these models had not been executed 3 meters high sculptures of the artificial stone for decoration of lateral wings and tympanums of the Parliament building. However, each of them was significant achievement of the mentioned artists even if they are not typical for their opus. Unfortunately most of these sculptural works are so damaged that their restoration would not be possible.
