摘要:Among the most prominent representatives of the art deco in France was the architect Roger-Henri Expert. The fact that he designed the building for the French Embassy in Belgrade (1928-1933) brought to Belgrade the place in the summaries of his activity but also in the anthological selections of the examples of this style. Choosing of Expert did not necessarily meant including of an elite body in the organism of provincial Balkan capital which, although hampered by the World War, did not fail to keep up with acceptance of ideas of the new artistic aesthetics. The residence of French ambassador in Belgrade reflects some of the basic points of the Paris Exhibition in 1925, Exposition des art decoratifs et industrials modernes especially of the central pavilion of Hotel d'un Collectionneur, work of the architect Pierre Patout. Besides that Expert also thoroughly studied the archetype of art deco architecture of Palais Stoclet in Brussels. Working gladly in cooperation with sculptor Carlo Sarrabezolles he left to him to make the relieves on the facades and three female figures on the roof crown of the building. In the use of art deco concept, first of all in applying plaques decorated with shallow relief on the building facades good example was set by the architects Milan Zloković and Krstić brothers. Their collaborators were already well established sculptors Sreten Stojanović Živojin Lukić, Petar Palavičini (the later with the relief on the courtyard facade of the French embassy. In the close vicinity of the embassy building the characteristics of the art deco could be noticed on the monument of gratitude to France by Ivan Meštrović and Art Pavilion 'Cvijeta Zuzorić'.
