摘要:The palace of Department of Control of the PTT Ministry represents one among the most valuable objects designed by architect Momir Korunović, which is for the most part preserved in its authentic form. The noted object was constructed on the land tract behind the Main Telephone Exchange Office, at the corner of Palmotićeva and Majke Jevrosime Street. The funds for its building were provided from the PTT Ministry, previewed by 1923-1924 budget. After a tender for building contract held on 23 March 1925, the building contract was conferred to Technical enterprise 'Fundus' from Belgrade. The cornerstone was laid down and foundations sanctified on 6 December 1926. Final operations in building the object of Department of control were recorded in the engineering journals since 3 June 1930 until 19 April 1931. Members of the commendatory commission approved the completion of works on 5 May 1931. The object of Department of control is square in ground-plan containing an inner court. According to the project, the locations of vertical communication and plumbing system block were in the axis of object next to the main entrance. The object is built in masonry, with tiles in ancient format, in the system of longitudinal load-bearing walls standing upon trapeze foundation footings. Starting from cellar, the wall thickness decreases toward roof. Construction between stories is represented by rib-like or massive concrete plate, varying in depth, which depended on the plate span. The object of Department of Control consists of the basement ground floor and six stories. Its facade is composed of three horizontal parts in academic fashion. Corners of the object are accentuated in tower-like manner. Multilevel structure of the facade is accomplished by the combination of Serbian-Byzantine motives and the reduced expressive forms. The architect designed a concrete fence along the regulation line of Palmotićeva Street. Decorative elements applied on the fence are related to those on the fa9ade, rounding out their unity.
