摘要:Environmental Education must be carried out differently in each environment so that it adapts to the respective realities, working with its specific problems and its own solutions with respect to culture, habits, psychological aspects, the biophysical and socioeconomic characteristics of each location. In this sense, the study described in this work sought to investigate the potential of Maracatu culture in strengthening the practice of Environmental Education in a High School in Nazaré da Mata – Pernambuco / Brazil. In the investigation, the quali-quantitative approach was used, followed by the action research procedures. The results obtained with the research showed that for the classroom to be a more attractive and meaningful environment for students, it is important that in the teaching-learning process the teacher takes as a base the region in which they are, linking it to your community, this practice will develop values and customs that will lead to the transformation in natural and social aspects for the conservation of the Environment, necessary for the quality of life and its sustainability.
