摘要：Given the importance of the agroindustrial system of beef cattle in Brazil, the existence of coordination failures among the agents and the emergence of differentiated systems, this article aimed to understand the governance mechanisms adopted in the conventional and differentiated agroindustrial systems in Brazil. The qualitative and bibliographical research was based on the Transaction Cost Economy and Measurement Cost. As results, the conventional system involves low asset specificity and frequency, high uncertainty, easily measurable dimensions, transacted through the spot market. Differentiated systems involve asset specificity, uncertainty, recurrence of transactions, and difficult-to-measure dimensions. In this case, there is no consensus in the coordination markets, involving diferente hybrid forms and vertical integration. Despite efforts, it is concluded that coordination failures persist in these systems, mainly associated with opportunistic behavior, and may compromise their continuity.
