摘要:In the early years of the 20th century, a base was found at Delos, celebrating the pancratiast and wrestler Menodoros son of Gnaios, together with a marble slab providing thirty-six inscribed wreaths. A reconstruction of the base is provided, combined with an analysis of the text of the inscriptions ( I.Délos 1957 and 2498), based on recent studies. The Delian monument, which can be dated to the years 120-110 BC, stands out for the variety of agons it records: in some cases, it is one of the oldest attestations. A brief survey of these particular agons is provided.
