摘要:This research, which aims to put forth the book sales assistants’ views regarding the selection of children’s book having a readable quality, was conducted through a qualitative descriptive research approach. The universe of the research consists of 13 sales assistant who work in Ankara and have the working experience ranging between 1 year to 23 years. Convenience sampling was utilized during the research and interview technique was used as the data collection tool. The answers given for the questions in the interview form were recorded with tape recorder. Descriptive analysis technique, one of the qualitative data analysis techniques, was utilized for the analysis of the data acquired during research. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, most of the participants, who have the experience of audible reading for children’s picture books, generally refer to positive effects occurred in the children. The assistants participating in the research state that mostly the children’s picture book aiming at value education are preferred. Generally, the parents come to the bookstores to examine and buy the children’s picture books. The majority of these parents is the mothers. Furthermore, it is mostly expressed that the mothers coming to the bookstores are mostly working, educated and from a high socioeconomic level. The sales assistants frequently state that they face questions about the appropriateness of the books to the child’ age, whether the book has any referrals to some socially delicate issues or not, the best-seller books and the prices of the books.
