摘要:In this study, spelling mistakes made by fourth grade elementary school children were examined. The participants of the study consisted of 148 primary school children from low and middle income families. Children's spelling errors are classified as phonetic errors, morphological errors, orthographic errors, orthographic image errors, displacement errors and other errors. The results of the research revealed that the mistakes made by children vary and that the spelling mistakes made by children are included in orthographic image errors, stylistic errors and other errors groups. This situation was explained by the low awareness of students about the distinction between written and spoken Turkish. The results of the research obtained were discussed in the context of the relevant scientific literature and suggestions were made.
