摘要：This article discusses the issues of landscape conservation and planning,which constitutes a significant element of the professional activity of an architect,landscape architect and a planner. The paper highlights the value of archival cartographic sources for contemporary landscape research (including history,transformations and compositions) and revalorization projects. The subject of the study is the principal part of the Austrian land cadaster from mid 19th Century prepared for land tax – cadastral maps. There are four types of maps containing significant information of particular value for research:1. originals – first drafts;2. evidence maps; 3 'Viennese’ ('Wiedenki’) – lithographic coloured copies of original maps;4. indicative sketches to be subsequently amended. The content of the maps is extremely precise. Cadastral maps are an excellent source material for historic landscape research.
