摘要：The article presents the results of a study on the sacred and the profane spheres of rivers understood from both scientific and social (cultural) perspectives. The research was done in 2012 among academic workers,teachers and students at different universities with the use of diagnostic survey method (open questions). The technique of mind mapping,among other things,was applied to record the connotations (perceptive images). The problems of forms and methods connected with this type of research were described. Various perceptive images and expressions used by the respondents to describe the spheres of the sacred and the profane experienced at the rivers were presented and divided into different categories. The most dominant ones were indicated. The results of the research were used to formulate conclusions concerning future fieldworks on rivers – experiencing (recording) the spheres of the sacred and the profane. Perspectives and forms of didactic courses for students and teachers on academic level were determined. Conditions required for similar classes were outlined.
