摘要：Space,when conceived in a mathematical sense,may be treated as "that,in which objects are located”,and then,the materially treated landscape,as built up of objects,constitutes a category,which is subordinated to space. On the other hand,the everyday,narrow understanding of the notion of space,implying "that,which stretches between the objects”,subordinates it to the landscape. In the semiotic stream of the studies on landscape the differences between landscape and the social space become hard to grasp – landscape may be seen as a reflection (not necessarily material) of the social space. Besides,in the analytical studies,especially those aiming at classification,landscape can be treated as an n-dimensional mathematical space. The ambiguity of the terms used makes it necessary to define them very carefully in the scientific investigations.
