摘要：The paper presents results of the research that aimed at identifying noise threats in the Polish health-resorts,recognizing potential of their soundscapes and indicating possibilities to protect the quality of the soundscapes in the health-resorts. The author tries to answer the question:"Are the Polish health-resorts islands of silence?” For his analyses,he uses the press,Internet sources as well as reports on environmental protection,spa reports and special surveys. Taking into consideration the studies conducted by the author,it can be stated that not all health-resorts in Poland deserve the title "islands of silence”. Using their potential,the Polish resorts have opportunities to realize innovative tourist products that can contribute to their socio-economic development. Among the products,there may be the such ones which emphasize exceptional quality of soundscapes. Yet,it is essential to take proper care of this quality,for instance as part of revitalization projects.
