摘要：Landscape creation is strictly connected with its perception and preferences shown by people. The aim of the article is to present results of the researches on social preferences towards different types of landscape and vegetation. The aim is also to introduce the mechanisms responsible for landscape assessment. The literature overview revealed two domain theories determining social preferences towards landscape:biological,based on evolutionary explanation,and cultural. Landscape familiarity,age,education,environmental awareness,and cross-cultural differences are believed to be main important factors affecting landscape assessment. The research showed the most favorite types of landscape are those of natural character,with some level of management,highly or moderately complexed,and diverse. Vegetation was pointed out as a key factor for affecting positive response to landscape.
