摘要：The article discusses the role of granite quarries in the landscape of Strzelin County. Evaluation of the visual role of quarries in the landscape was conducted basing on digital bonitation scoring and visual assessment indicators including the level of visibility. These indicators were defined for the mining front,active dumps,the vegetation,water reservoirs,machinery and equipment and mining buildings and structures. The interior of the quarry was evaluated in terms of the possibility to incorporate it in the landscape,the difficulty of reclamation and the potential geotouristic attractiveness. The evaluation of close view and distant panoramic view was based on the assumption that mining elements are a degrading factor that always has a negative influence on landscape. Basing on the adopted visual assessment criteria it was determined that the influence of the Górka Sobocka quarry on the landscape is higher than that of the Gębczyce and Strzelin I deep quarries. The interiors of all the analysed quarries were rated as neutral. The role of the Górka Sobocka quarry was rated neutral both in the close view and in distant panorama,while the role of the Gębczyce and Strzelin I quarries was rated positive.
