摘要:Objective: The main purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of cognitive emotion regulation strategies on the relationship between undergraduate students’ adult attachment and interpersonal problems. Methods: A total of 300 undergraduate students participated in this study. They completed a questionnaire regarding adult attachment, cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and interpersonal problems. Results: First, undergraduate students’ adult attachment was significantly related to interpersonal problems. Attachment anxiety had a greater influence on interpersonal problems than attachment avoidance. Second, adult attachment was significantly associated with cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Third, cognitive emotion regulation strategies were significantly related to interpersonal problems. Forth, cognitive emotion regulation strategies partially mediated the relations between attachment-related anxiety and avoidance and interpersonal problems. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of adult attachment in interpersonal relationships among undergraduate students. Based on the results from this study, it would be important to further develop counseling programs to help reduce the interpersonal problems of undergraduates at the educational environment.
