摘要：It's necessary to determine set of alternative facility design and to make a choise among them in order to consist of productive and affec- tiveness plant layout. A computer program have been developed and improved to assist the layout analyst/ designer in identifying layouts that appear to meet some specified eriteria. The analyst must escertain how much space each department requires and special shapes that must be provided or avoided. In the following article such a program that's prepared to make access to a special computer package for layout analysis will be presen- ted, namely COFAD. The program operated by iterating or successive improvements. At each step, it computed the cost improvements that would result by means of department interchange. This procedure is repeated until no improvement is found. The article is supported with a numerical simple example.
