摘要:Architect Jože Kušar,researches the fields of design, construction and dimensioning in architecture. The focus of his research work is conceptualising and designing structures from massive timber. The specific contribution of his research on timber structures is the evidence on structural origins of proportions with simultaneous harmonisation of measurements and dimensioning technical mechanical properties of loadbearing structures, which are coupled with the structure of measurement units of former anthropometric systems. His other field of research are timber buildings in Slovenia. In the structural sense, timber buildings in Slovenia were designed and built in two ways: log walls or skeletal walls. Both types of structures have a long and historically well-documented building heritage. In his review of historical development of timber structures he discovered that as soon as 777 AD Slovenes developed wooden houses that could be transported from elsewhere and reassembled on a new site. This finding proves a high level of technological knowledge of the Slovenes of the time. It proves that they weren’t ignorant barbarians, and furthermore,it is one of the oldest known historical sources proving the beginnings of timber structure prefabrication. American settlers developed the »baloon frame« more than a thousand years later.
