摘要:Future development directions of the contemporary buildings are based on naturally renewable energy resources, the development of new wood composite materials and higher levels of prefabrication in a proces of architectural planning. Prefabricated wooden houses in residential buildings present minor part of all buildings in Slovenia. The reasons pertaining to the relatively low occurrence of prefabricated wooden buildings today are assessed in the presented study. The Slovenian public opinion survey on wooden building 2006 examined, among other issues, public attitude towards wooden buildings and its advantages. Data collection was performed by CATI method. Results of public research make clear the user’s lack of knowledge about the wooden buildings. The most respondents living in single-family houses oppose the idea of timber-framed penthouse, more than a half of all respondents agreed that wood is suitable material for constructions, while 30% disagreed. Percentages of respondents who consider that wooden house offers healthier living conditions as a brick-concrete one are about the same. The most respondents support increased government spending for ecological building. Public opinion survey presents one of the important instruments for popularization of wooden building in a sense of the education and dissemination of its advantages. The dominants of brick and concrete constructions reflect the opinions of the respondents in our survey, but there is growing interest in healthier living, use of natural materials and energy energy-saving building.
