摘要:The introduction of e-learning to architecture offers an array of advantages,known from distance-learning systems. However,uncritical use of these advantages can endanger the cultural dimensions of sustainable development in architecture. Experiences in complementing traditional architectural learning with abstract- and experience-based interfaces within the European e-Learning project VIPA,show different levels of effectiveness of e-learning when related to different education contents in architecture. The most interesting issue is the understanding of scale in architecture and urban design,which is disappearing from the consciousness of student’s that exclusively work with computers. The article explains the positioning of project experiences of VIPA into the work of the programme group dealing with sustainable development of quality living environments. Based on comparative analysis of study cases of the VIPA project,viewed from the aspects of relations between complexities of education contents (between the abstract and real,conceptual and experiential or general and particular) and actual usefulness of selected rational e-learning solutions (these are the elements of the common education interface with a remote "VR" laboratory),the article defines a system of levels of their utility in implementation and development of study programmes, as well as programme units in architecture. Thus the article points out the pitfalls of architectural e-education emerging from the simplicity of communicating abstract versus real architectural contents. Its purpose is to stimulate theoretical and methodological upgrading of virtual architectural laboratory systems,especially from the aspect of communicating complex,real contents,which integrate themes of spatial relations.
