摘要：The contribution deals with the selected contents of research dedicated to resolving the issues of weak participation of the general public in the processes of architectural and urban planning decision making. We identify the role of the elements of the decision-making process concerning spatial interventions,which are relevant for determining the conditions for creative public participation and final decisions oriented towards sustainability. The entire discussion acts as a framework for reflections on the communication gap between the expert and the general public. We inquire about the meaning and distribution of expert knowledge for the general public,and about the ultimate purpose of the exchange of messages. In doing so,we place more emphasis on those spacerelated contents which constitute sets of various and mutually interlinked fields of knowledge,and interdisciplinary knowledge of the methods by which they define problem-solving approaches to architecture. Furthermore,we define as a significant element of the co-decision-making process,the interest and motivation of the general public in participation - quite as significant as the education,awareness building and viewpoints contributed to the process by the public. The findings in the article indicate that the wider problem of public participation has often been investigated,but neither the effectiveness of messages transmitted has not been more deeply investigated,nor its impact on the motivation of the general public to participate. The efforts of research to whose starting points the present contribution refers lead to the development of theoretical and applicative starting points in support of effective communication to the general public of the contents of spatially oriented sciences.
