摘要:The main thesis presents the idea that all the spreading networks,constituting the infrastructure of the information society in Poland are developing geographically in the same manner. The existing networks are differentiated by the user into the following: telephony and computer networks (Internet),cellular telephony networks and radio and TV diffusion networks. They are developing in the similar way. The main processes,which led to interconnect them,are: digitiza?tion of the signal,convergence among them through the gateways and interaction of users. The recognized (in the publication) geographical factors influencing on these processes are: the geographical potential (modified form of the Sheppard's original formula),hierarchy of the cities, geographical distance. Some additional economic and natural geographical factors have been verified: the range of the transportation network,range of the urban areas,range of the tourist areas,relief and the range of forests. The publication presents the state and the maps of geographical range of different parts of the information society's networks (telephony,Internet,cellular,radio and TV) in Poland. Next,there is attempt to simulate their geographical development. The Monte Carlo (MC) simulation method has been applied. The verification results from the comparison between the simulated and real ranges of the networks. The extensive use of the Geographic Information Systems enabled to obtain the visualization of the results and to reach the objectives of the research. The main results of the research are: geographical,methodological and operational. The geographical results prove that there is a hierarchical process of a spatial diffusion of innovation of the development all the information society's infrastructure (functionally differentiated networks). Monte Carlo method based of the geographical (population) potential can be used to simulate this process. The methodological results include the original author's formulation of the modified form of geographical potential and the propositions of its interpretation. The geographical potential used in the simulation proved its value. The operational aspect of the research is the application of ArcView GIS making use the scripts (in Avenue programming language),specially written for the research.
