摘要:This paper describes research into photogrammetric reconstruction of 3D models of contact surfaces for pieces of the broken archaeological sculptures. The aim of this research work was to propose a reliable, accurate non-contact method for checking whether the initially chosen parts of the sculpture fit to each other. Such correspondence of the archaeological fragments would allow identifying a more accurate date of the sculpture,on the basis of a comparison of the iconographical and stylistic characteristics. The required high accuracy (0.3÷0.5 mm) of the contact surfaces measurement and necessity of their 3D visualization, have demanded that suitable photogrammetric procedures be proposed. To verify the proposed method, the authors reconstructed and visualized the models of two congruent 3D surfaces of two parts of the broken test stone and thirty-five numerical models of contact surfaces for various types of archaeological pieces from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the National Museum in Warsaw. The applied method for measurement of the contact surfaces is based on digital images taken by the semi-metric digital camera CANON EOS 20D,equipped with three interchangeable lenses, for which a multi variant calibration process was executed before object measurement. The images of the contact surfaces of the sculptures pieces were taken at scales from 1:20 to 1:40,with a base/distance ratio of about 1:4. Before the images were acquired, the objects were placed within a special metal construction with control points especially constructed for the purpose of this project, for which the points spatial coordinates were determined with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. The 3D model reconstruction and measurement was preceded with image correction for systematic errors, which were determined in the calibration process. The elevation measurement of all surfaces was executed in automatic mode, applying the photogrammetric workstation Z/I Imaging. To analyse the measured surfaces’ topography (to be used in the process of their relative fitting) a special computer programme was elaborated for surface visualization in four different forms. The method proposed for 3D surface matching (fitting) and its practical verification has been already completed and will be published separately. The research work has been a part of the project KBN T12E 033 26,supported by the Polish State Committee for Scientific Research.
