摘要:The Digital Terrain Model has recently become a standard geospatial product. In the last few years,many new possibilities for generating Digital Terrain Models have been developed,including image matching techniques. It can be supposed that digital photogrammetric technology,which uses methods of image matching methods,is an appropriate solution for obtaining DTM of large areas in a short time. This paper briefly describes the generation of DTM by photogrammetric methods. An analysis of the cause of errors in computing the ground coordinates in DTM is also made. The authors have derived a formula for the theoretical error of terrain coordinate calculations. Because the available test material in the EuroSDR project “Evaluation of the Quality of Digital Terrain Models”,in which the authors took part,contained only two aerial photos (one stereo-pair) the relative and absolute orientations were taken into consideration. Photos scanned with a pixel size of 21 micrometers were on a 1:25 000 scale.Users with DTM experience need approaches and methods of quality control. This can be done in different ways. The accuracy of DTM can also be checked by an analysis of the difference between two DTMs. In this paper,statistical approaches for determining DTM quality are presented. The statistical tests of hypothesis were used for these purposes. The method of automatic assessment of DTM accuracy is elaborated using an existing DTM and taking measurements on a stereo-pair of photos. The article also describes an internet application,which allows user to determine whether existing,available DTM meet accuracy specifications sufficient for their requirements. A practical solution of the proposed algorithm is based on the system of a central unit - a server of applications and client computers equipped with standard Internet browsers,e.g. Internet Explorer,Netscape, Opera. The program was written in the Java language. The described application is located on the Department of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing server (www.kfit.uwm.edu.pl/zp/A_nmt.html).
