摘要:The present paper presents results of the research which is a final part of the KBN 4T 12E03326 project. The aim of this research was to propose a reliable method for matching of 3D contact surfaces for parts of archeological broken sculptures. To establish more accurate origin of the sculpture, analysis of the iconographical and stylistic characteristics of the whole object is valuable. Therefore,if the parts of sculptures are initially chosen base on the archeological data,a match between their corresponding contact surfaces can support the archaeologists’ hypotheses on their origin. Simple manual methods, applied by the archaeologists for checking whether two adjoiningparts of sculpture fit to each other, use the plaster casts for covering the contact surfaces of those parts. Such approach, however,is not suitable for checking a huge number of items. Modern digital methods have been applied by authors for the reconstruction of 3D models of contact surfaces with accuracy of 0.3 ÷ 0.5 mm. Digital form of 3D models of those surfaces allows for their visualisation which is required for topography analysis and their matching and also for storage data in the archaeological database. Details of photogrammetric method and results obtained by authors for reconstruction and automatic measurement of 3D models of 3D contact surfaces for parts of archeological sculptures were presented by authors in 2006. The proposed method for matching of 3D contact surfaces of each two adjoining parts is based on a function which applies the primitive features directly related to the geometric shape of surface’ features. The objective function consists of a least square condition for distances between two surfaces and,in addition, the second condition resulted from not covering of the entire areas of two surfaces. The proposed method has been verified by matching two contact surfaces of two parts of granite stone (broken under control for the purpose of this project),and with a few fragments of the archaeological sculptures, which have had various destruction of the contact surfaces. In addition,a concept of database for archiving archaeological and geometrical data for sculptures was also proposed. The functions of this database allow to find,in the initial stage, the most likely parts of the particular sculpture on base of the characteristics suggested by the archaeologists.
