摘要：The problem of volume determination of cylindrical tanks occurs during their construction phase,as well as in the course of operating them. Currently,the Central Office of Measures uses a simple but little convenient strapping method to solve this problem. This method can be used just for tanks with small shape distortions and enables to determine only the volume of the tank itself without giving any information about the tank deformations or deflections. One of more complex measuring technologies,having support in ISO 7507 standard and enabling the determination of volume and deformation of cylindrical tanks is the internal electro-optical distance ranging method. This method is universal,modern,precise and fast. It requires,however,a great care during measurement and,in the case of tanks with easily deformable bottoms,it is hard to use in a classic way. All of those inconveniences can be eliminated when a robotic reflectorless total station will be used along with the specialised software enabling the automation of measuring as well as computational process.
