摘要：Digital remote sensing images are currently used to prepare various maps,including navigational charts,which are more and more frequently used in place of paper products. A particularly important application of remote sensing images is the preparation of maps for inland shipping,because up till now there are no navigational charts,even in paper form. The use of remote sensing products to acquire information on geographical features in vector form requires proper knowledge and experience,which is tightly correlated with their final accuracy. This problem is particularly relevant as regards shorelines and topographic elements which have a significant role in navigation. Unfortunately,there is no recommendation concerning the application of these data to the creation and updating of navigational charts. Therefore the authors of this paper studied the range of applications for charting topographical features for example shorelines and bridges from aerial photographs and satellite images. Digital vector objects were verified by field measurements, which permitted the determination of their horizontal accuracy and further comparison with hydrographical requirements. In addition to this,their interpretation potential was studied,which is for certain an essential consideration in the preparation of navigational maps.
