摘要：This paper highlights the contribution of Niccolò Machiavelli,Thomas Hobbes and John Locke to the founding of a new political theory. The analysis therefore focuses on the fundamental conceptions that paved the way to modern political thought: the civil polity and statecraft,the social contract theory and political legitimacy,unlimited or limited sovereign power.
