摘要:The main dilemma persisting around Emil Cioran’s personality and work concerns his status. Is Cioran a philosopher or a writer? Or is he the both? The critics have brought plenty of arguments for the first as well as for the second of these statuses. But one thing is true: E. M. Cioran continues to seduce us due to his thoughts and style. It’s although of no use to talk about his philosophy without no reference to Cioran’s claimed pathology. Among his “diseases” the temptation of the suicide was the worst of all. But one of his most surprising confessions is the way of healing: he got rid of this temptation due to the writing. Our present study aims to describe one of Cioran’s most famous paradoxes: the shocking difference between his practical merry wisdom and his sad philosophy.
