摘要:Koc Mosque is one of the most important Medieval Age monuments of the city which faces the threat of being inundated by Ilısu Dam.The building is very important for its plan as well as its deep carved plaster decorations.The harim mihrab, which is dated to later periods, and plaster decorations from 12th-14th centuries over the portal niche of the iwan survived to today take place within the building.It is unique inAnatolia with its plaster coatings of the iwan that reflect the Great Seljuk tradition in terms of technical and stylistic features.The building that survived to today facing a great damage is exposed to all outer influences.Besides the dam threat, the existing problems of the structure constitute a big destroying threat for the plaster decorations.Urgent and extensive conservation projects are required to prevent this situation.In accordance with this requirement, “temporary conservation” measures are taken between 2000-2002 as regards the plaster decorations with the initiatives of Prof.Arık, head of the excavation.However, the project at the planning stage consisting “permanent conservation” applications is not realized due to the change in the excavation management.Parallel to these studies, some observations and establishments on the plaster coverings, which take into account their production methods and decoration techniques as well as their original position, are made; suggestions that take into consideration the existing situation and the possibility of being flooded by dam waters are developed towards conservation.
