摘要:Historical buildings and environments, which reflect the economic, social, cultural, politic etc.character of societies, constitute the symbolic values of the societies to which they belong.Sustainability of social and cultural values is imperiled by destruction of these works, which bring the past into the present.While historical buildings and environments refer the past, on the other hand they make possible cities be learned easily by providing urban perceptibility and legibility.In the content of the study, the assertion is that; “features that make legible cities also make legible buildings, too”.From this point of view, urban design structure and city legibility of an historical building, which was transformed to an architecture faculty in Delft Technological University in city of Delft/Holland, were researched to prove that a building can accommodate a city.Study include analyzes of this transformed historical building and conclusions of these analyzes.Analyzes are based on image of the city elements which are revealed by Kevin Lynch and needed for city legibility.
