摘要：Recreation activities,which are conducted for making use of spare times,are also considered as activities that help to enhance the quality of living for people. Although the activities that are conducted under the name of ‘making use of spare times’ mostly take place in the urban areas at the present time,the rural area recreation is very important in both spending time of high quality and making more efficient use of spare times. In addition,the demand for rural recreation areas and the increase of this demand enable the locals advance socioeconomically,culturally and economically. Rural areas are attractive spots for various recreation activities with their original landscape values and local culture of living. For this purpose,the types of recreation activities conducted in rural areas were examined in accordance with their original landscape values and local cultures of living. MATERIAL and METHOD: Gölbaşı Pond is located in the County of Kestel,in the Province of Bursa,Turkey;it was created as an irrigation pond,and apart from its purpose of creation,it has an important potential of recreation for natural,cultural,sportive and relaxation purposes. In addition to the activities currently conducted around the pond (trekking,photography,fishing,horse riding,highland festivals,etc.) there is the potential for many other types of activities. RESULT: In this study,the current recreation uses on and around the Gölbaşı Pond are introduced after the research of the recreation activities that accord with the area’s landscape values and local culture of living.
