  • 摘要:The aim of this study was to evaluate relationship between pre-competition anxiety levels and performance in elite bouldering rock climbers and to determine the sensitivity of state anxiety scales to this sport branch. METHOD: The study included 41 elite athletes (18 female,23 male). After get the demographic information of the athletes, the pre-competition anxiety levels was assessed by the Competitive State Anxiety Scale (CSAI) and State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). CSAI's three sub-parameters,cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety and selfconfidence, were assessed. Two different parameters were evaluated with STAI as state anxiety and trait anxiety. Performance scores of the athletes after the competition were recorded. Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) package program was used in the analysis of the data. After the mean ± standard deviation values of the data were calculated,"Pearson's Rank-Order Correlation" was used to evaluate the relationship between the variables because of parametric test. Independent Samples t test was used in the intergroup comparisons. p<0.05). It was determined that among subparameters each of the STAI and CSAI scales had a strong positive correlation. There was no correlation between STAI and CSAI. DISCUSSION: In the light of the study results,we determined that pre-competition anxiety levels in elite rock climbers were high in keeping with the literature. While there was no significant difference in anxiety levels between male and female athletes, the performance scores of female athletes were found to be lower. We think that this result may be related to the difference in the biopsychosocial substructure of men and women. STAI's sensitivity to assess anxiety in elite rock climbers was found to be poor compared with CSAI.
