摘要:Feldenkreise exercises as a psycho-somatic training method provide body awareness with voluntary movements for individuals who complain about back,neck and joint pains. This study aims to investigate the effects of Feldenkreise exercise program on the life quality in elderly people. MATERIAL and METHOD: Data were collected from individuals 65 to 85 aged including the individuals’ level of pain,psychical and spiritual health features. Totally 30 voluntary participants staying in Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the Elderly Persons were divided into experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups for this study. Average values were 70.97±6.93 years for age,167.50±9.51cm for body height,78.60±10.24 kg for body weight,29.35±4.l for body mass index. Feldenkreise exercise program has been practised to the experiment group 3 days in a week during 5 months. SF-12 life quality scale including sub-dimensions of mental and psychical health and pain measurement tests (VAS = Visual Analog Scale) have been applied to all participants after the determination of their demographic features. For data analysis,paired-t test and mixed ANOVA were performed by SPSS 20.0. RESULTS: Findings of this research showed that mental,health and depression levels of elderly persons did not change after Feldenkreise exercise program but psychical health level increased and pain level they felt decreased clearly . CONCLUSION: The application of Feldenkreise exercises to elderly people in 3 days in a week during 5 months has improved their psychical health levels and decreased the pain level at their bodies and it can be accepted as an effective method to increase their life quality.
