摘要:Orienteering is a running sport with a navigational component;using a map and compass, the athlete navigates a given course in the shortest possible time (Lauenstein et al 2013). each orienteering race is unique with respect to race length and terrain, with variable amounts of ascent, descent, and number of controls. Course characteristics, such as course profiles, can exert an effect on orienteering finishing times. Many of these factors are important aspects in course planning and taken into consideration by an orienteer when deciding what route to take (Hébert-Losier et al.,2015).Aim: The purpose of the study is to examine the physiological responses to sprint, middle, and long distance in elite male orienteers. METHODS: Six elite male orienteers (age: 28.33±2.34 y,height: 1.75±0.05 cm,weight: 71.67±7.34 kg) participated in the study. The athletes completed with interval one day in sprint, middle, and long race distances. The physiological responses of the orienteers were recorded by using heart rate telemetric system (Suunto® Ambit2) during the competition. RESULTS: Average distance and duration run by the orienteers was for the sprint (3.75±0.18 km,17.26±1.69 min),middle (5.55±0.18 km,26.13±2.94 min),and long distance (15.31±0.82 km,106.38±19.94 min). The average running speed of the orienteers was significantly higher in the sprint and middle distance than that of the long distance (13.11±0.97,12.86±1.38,9.00±1.55 km/h,respectively). Heart rate responses of the orienteers were higher in the sprint and middle distance running than that of long distance (181.66±8.61,180.50±6.62,173.83±6.30 b/min,respectively). On the other hand, energy and excess post-exercise oxygen consumption increased significantly when the distance increased (p<0.05). VO2 values were similar between distances. CONCLUSION: The results showed that the physiological responses of the orienteers were different in the sprint, middle distance, and long distance.
