  • 标题:EFFECT OF MELATONIN ON ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION IN THE MUSCLE TISSUE OF DIABETIC RATS SUBJECTED TO FORCED EXERCISE

  • 摘要:The objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of melatonin supplementation on elements in the muscle of diabetic rats subjected to acute swimming exercise. Group 1,(n:10) General Control,Group 2,(n:10) Melatonin-Supplemented Control,Group 3,(n:10) MelatoninSupplemented Diabetic Control,Group 4,(n:10) Swimming Control,Group 5,(n:10) Melatonin-Supplemented Swimming,Group 6,(n:10) Melatonin-Supplemented Diabetic Swimming,Group 7,(n:10) Diabetic Swimming,Group 8,(n:10) Diabetes. These animals were administered 3 mg/kg/day intraperitoneal melatonin for 4 weeks. Analyses of mucle lead,cobalt,molybdenum,chrome,boron,magnesium,manganese,iron,copper,calcium,zinc and selenium were conducted using the atomic emission equipment of inductively coupled plasma emission spectrophotometer (ICP-AES;Varian Australia Pty LTD,Australia) in the Department of Soil of Selcuk University,Faculty of Agriculture. The results were determined as mg/L. The lowest lead levels in the groups 1 and 2,the highest cobalt levels were determined in groups 7 and 8,however,group 4 has highest molybdenum levels than other groups. In the muscle tissue,boron levels in groups 1 and 2 higher than other,but magnesium levels lowest in groups 7 and 8,iron levels were not different among the groups. The highest muscle cupper levels were determined in groups 1,2 and 3,however,calcium levels were lowest in groups 7 and 8. Highest muscle zinc levels were obtained groups 2,3,5 and 6 in which melatonin supplemented,lowest zinc levels obtain from groups 7 and 8. Muscle selenium levels in groups 7 and 8 were lower than other groups,group 4 had higher levels compared to groups 7 and 8 for selenium,however,lower than other groups. Results obtained from the study indicate that melatonin supplementation to rats which were induced diabetes with streptozotocin and subjected to acute swimming exercise significantly modifies the element metabolism in the muscle tissue.
