摘要：17 Turkish wrestlers denied to attend Olympics Training Camp based upon the conflicts between the National Wrestlers and managers who were in charge of Turkish Wrestling at that time. However,the adversity had begun well in advance. Wrestlers had put up their requests and discomfort to Cihat Uskan,the head of Turkish Wrestling Federation at every turn but their requests were disregarded. Therefore,wrestlers denied to attend Olympics Training Camp which would be organized before 1968 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship and European Freestyle Wrestling Championship and started their boycott of the Wrestling Federation,giving Federation’s disregard of their requests as a reason. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to put forward the incidents between champion wrestlers and managers who were in charge of Turkish Wrestling before 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games,the adversity which brought the champion wrestlers full of national soul and moral feelings to the boycott,and the outcome of those incidents in detail for wrestlers,Wrestling Federation,Ministry of State for Sports and in public opinion. METHOD: Before analysing wrestlers’ boycott before 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games,related literature search was carried out and obtained information was evaluated chronologically. Each phase of the process of resolving obtained information into utilisable data was carried out under inspection of a branch expert academic member. For a better comprehension of the incident,an oral history study was also carried out with some of the trainers and sportsmen who were mentioned in the boycott incident and were still alive. CONCLUSION AND DISCUSSION: The tension between champion wrestlers,whose requests and discomfort were ignored and left non-communicated,and managers who were in charge of Turkish Wrestling at that time caused wrestlers to boycott the Wrestling Federation by not attending 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games Training Camp. The Wrestling Federation referred 17 wrestlers to Central Disciplinary Committee and laid them off from Spor Toto in response to the boycott. Those incidents were also reached to the knowledge of Kamil Ocak,the State Minister for Sports and the Senate of Republic requested a senate hearing of the incident from Ankara senators Turgut Cebe and Yiğit Köker. Senators found guilty Ulvi Yenal,the General Manager of Physical Training,and Cihat Uskan,the head of Turkish Wrestling Federation for treating “improperly and prejudicially”. The period ended with the resignation of Cihat Uskan,the head of the Wrestling Federation,in 10th July 1968 and the appointment of Cemil Erkök for the headship in 12nd July 1968 and besides putting an additional clause in the Disciplinary Regulations throwing out the inquiries on the wrestlers. It can be said that the starting point of the incidents are lacking of communication of the managers with the wrestlers and their management understanding far from having principles. After these incidents,it will provide an environment for similar circumstances if precautions are not taken in order not to face them. In this boycott,appeasing applications of the management were accurate,yet some of the sportsmen were destitute of possible winnings and medals in unattended championships.
