摘要:Feldenkreise exercises as a psycho-somatic training method provide body awareness with voluntary movements for individuals who complain about back,neck and joint pains. This study aims to investigate the effects of Feldenkreise exercise program on the physical fitness level in elderly people. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Data were collected from individuals 65 to 85 aged including the individuals’ level of pain,psychical and spiritual health features. Totally 30 voluntary participants staying in Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the Elderly Persons were divided into experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups for this study. Average values were 70.97±6.93 years for age,167.50±9.51cm for body height,78.60±10.24 kg for body weight,29.35±4.l for body mass index. Feldenkreise exercise program has been practiced to the experiment group 3 days in a week during 5 months. Diastolic blood pressure (DBP),systolic blood pressure (SBP),resting hearth rate (RHR),walking test for 6 minutes (6 WT),hand grip strength (HGS) and Berg balance tests (BBT) have been applied to all participants after the determination of their demographic features. For data analysis,paired-t test and mixed ANOVA were performed by SPSS 20.0. RESULTS: This study showed that Feldeinkreise exercise program cause significant changes at all variables except for SBP. Other variables did not differentiate between pre and posttest except for HGS of control group. CONCLUSION: The application of Feldenkreise exercises to elderly people in 3 days in a week during 5 months has been regarded as an effective method to enhance the physical working capacity,general body strength and balance.
