摘要:This study analyzes the attitude of employers towards the possibilities and problems of employees that have children to reconcile work and family as well as the measures of family-friendly policy and the practice of their implementation in Lithuania. Family-friendly policy is understood as a package of measures that facilitate a better work and family balance for employees. The implementation of measures of family-friendly policy depends not only on the government’s decisions but also on the attitude and motivation of employers to build family-friendly workplace. According to Barnett’s (1999) theory of work-life models this study verifies the hypothesis that employers in Lithuania treat work and family as separate spheres with clear boundaries and want their employees’ family matters to be left at the workplace door. The quantitative data shows a fairly friendly attitude of employers towards measures of family-friendly policy. Despite that,the qualitative results (remarks of the respondents) highlight the patriarchal attitude of employers towards reconciliation of work and family life.
