  • 摘要:This study aimed to examine the effects of anthropometric and physiological characteristics of young swimmers who regularly train and participate in competitions on short and long-distance competition performance. Methods: Two weeks before the swimming competition, anthropometric measurements (height, weight and length measurements, diameter and circumference measurements, skinfold thickness measurements),physical measurements (flexibility test, handgrip strength) and physiological measurements (breathing capacity, vertical jump, resting heart rate) were taken from the swimmers who agreed to participate voluntarily. A total of 28 swimmers (5 girls and 3 boys from 11 years old and 11 girls and 9 boys from 12 years old) who train actively at least 3 years and who didn’t have any health problems or injuries participated in the study voluntarily. Results: The results showed that no significant differences were found in the competition performance and anthropometric, physiological and physical characteristics of the female and male swimmers entering and not entering the first 7 in the distance of 50m and 400m (p>0,05). It was seen that swimming performances increased as hand length and flexibility values of females swimming at 50m increased (p<0,05). It was observed that swimming performances increased as the bust length, flexibility and left handgrip values of males swimming at 50 meters increased (p<0,05). It was found that swimming performances increased as the abdominal circumference values of females swimming at 400m decreased (p<0,05),and swimming performances increased as the flexibility values of males swimming at 400m increased (p<0,05). Conclusion: Coaches should pay attention to anthropometric, physical and physiological characteristics in terms of performance in their training plans. We recommend this study should be repeated in larger sample groups and different age categories considering the different performance characteristics in swimming.
