摘要：El artículo aboga por la importancia de la prensa estadounidense en el progreso de la historiografía de la controversia chileno-peruana. Ante la inexistencia de trabajos que aborden su actitud, se sugiere pensarla como un agente comunicativo que construyó un discurso imperial sobre la litis. Teóricamente, la densidad fáctica (derivada de los hechos diplomáticos) y textual (tipografiada en 3234 noticias) se discute desde el campo de los imaginarios. Heurísticamente, se detallan algunas características estructurales de las fuentes. Luego se ejemplifica, basándose en la Guerra del Pacífico, una posibilidad hermenéutica. Las conclusiones recomiendan profundizar los análisis de noticias frente al diferendo para obtener un conocimiento certero sobre las representaciones periodísticas de Chile y Perú en los Estados Unidos.
其他摘要：The article argues for the importance of the American press in the progress of the historiography of the Chilean-Peruvian controversy. In the absence of works that address their attitude, it is suggested to think of it as a communicative agent that built an imperial discourse on the litis. Theoretically, the factual density (derived from diplomatic facts) and textual density (typed in 3234 news) is discussed from the field of imaginaries. Heuristically, some structural characteristics of the sources are detailed. Then, it is exemplified, based on the Pacific War, a hermeneutical possibility. The conclusions recommend to deepen the analysis of the news in front of the dispute to obtain an accurate knowledge about the journalistic representations of Chile and Peru in the United States.
