摘要：In this article, we gather and point out theories and definitions around humor and related concepts, such as comedy and laughter. In order to do so, we present well-known theories in this field such as those of superiority, relief and incongruity as well as other less prominent theories such as conceptual and violation theories. Then we give definitions of humorous features such as irony, sarcasm, satire, exaggeration, stereotype, among others. These linguistic resources are behind the workings of humorous texts and we consider important to understand them before analyzing any such material. These notes are, therefore, intended to serve as a basis for academic studies on humor in the most diverse areas of knowledge.
