摘要:Aim: The purpose of the current study was to
investigate the role of career adaptability as a
mediator between personality and core selfevaluation with the university-to-work
transition. Methods: The method applied was a
correlational study analyzed by SPSS 23 and
AMOS 23 statistical package. The study's
statistical population included all Isfahan
University bachelor students in the third or
fourth year of their education. This investigation
was conducted using a sample of 401 students of
the whole 2683 population chosen through
stratified sampling (considering each faculty's
gender and population). These students
completed the big five personality traits
questionnaire (NEO-FFI) (Mc-Crae and Costa,
2004), the core self-evaluation scale, the career
adaptability scale (Savickas and Profeili, 2012),
and the university-to-work transition scale
(Sadeghi, 2018). Results: The results indicated
that career adaptability fully mediated the
relationship between extraversion and
university-to-work transition (p<0.02) and
partially mediated the relationship between core
self-evaluation (p<0.02), conscientiousness
(p<0.05), and agreeableness (p<0.05) with the
university-to-work transition. A direct
relationship was noticed regarding the
relationship between openness to experience
(p<0.001) with the university-to-work transition,
career adaptability did not play a mediating role.
In contrast, career adaptability did not affect the
relationship between neuroticism with the
university-to-work transition. Conclusion: The
results state that increasing students' career
adaptability can increase students' university-towork transition. Individuals' perception of their
competencies and abilities (core self-evaluation)
is an essential factor affecting their career
adaptability and success in university-to-work
transition. Furthermore, in planning to enhance
students' core self-evaluation, career
adaptability, and success in university-to-work
transition, it is better to consider their big five
personality traits.
