摘要:What is already known on this topic? Studies have shown that cigarette smoking is as common, and sometimes more so, among adults with a history of epilepsy as it is among those without a history of epilepsy. What is added by this report? During 2010–2017, one in four adults with active or inactive epilepsy were current smokers, compared with one in six persons without epilepsy. Although fewer adults with active epilepsy smoked cigarettes in 2017 than in 2010, this difference was not statistically significant. What are the implications for public health practice? Epilepsy health and social service providers should promote smoking cessation resources to adults with active epilepsy who smoke cigarettes to help them quit smoking and reduce their risk for smoking-related disease and death.
