摘要:Flexibilized Employment and Time for Education – Opportunity or Risk? Findings of a qualitative study on temporary work What is the situation for temporary workers in Germany in terms of their perception of time, time resources and control over their own time? What opportunities are available as part of an atypical employment relationship with fragmented working hours so they can develop personal and professional prospects and also pursue them through training and continuing education? This article illuminates „temporary work,“ a precarious form of employment that demands great flexibility and mobility of its workers as well as their being constantly on call, which is accompanied by permanent unpredictability in terms of time. Temporary work much too often leads to processes of dequalification and limited professional opportunities for action. Based on selected findings from a qualitative study on temporary work in Germany, it is explained how changing time structures and time resources as a result of social and economic requirements impact processes of learning and education of adult temporary workers. One of the author‘s conclusions: At the moment, there is a lack of permanent and calculable prospects for the future that favor processes of learning and education that expand future opportunities for action and reflection for temporary workers. The increasing precarity of forms of employment must therefore be counteracted.
