标题：A PRODUÇÃO DO ESPAÇO URBANO VERTICALIZADO: CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE A DINÂMICA SOCIOESPACIAL DE IMPERATRIZ/MA / THE PRODUCTION OF VERTICALIZED URBAN SPACE: CONSIDERATIONS ON THE SOCIO-SPATIAL DYNAMICS OF IMPERATRIZ/MA
摘要：Este ensaio consiste no esforço direcionado à compreensão do processo de verticalização do espaço urbano em Imperatriz/MA. Buscou-se identificar as principais bases teóricas referentes a verticalização urbana, para posteriormente apresentar este processo no bojo da urbanização imperatrizense, evidenciando a atuação de agentes sociais como os promotores imobiliários e a ação governamental no contexto das mudanças socioespaciais pelas quais a cidade passou. Imperatriz está localizada no sudoeste do Maranhão, sendo a segunda maior cidade do estado. A partir da década de 1950 destacou-se no sul do estado amparada em sua dinâmica econômica, na construção da rodovia Belém Brasília (BR-010) além de sua excelente posição geográfica, o que contribuiu para a consolidação das atividades comerciais entre o sudeste e sul do Pará, o norte do Tocantins e todo o centro-sul do Maranhão, contribuindo para o vertiginoso crescimento urbano de Imperatriz. Dessa forma, logo a área central tornou-se preenchida, favorecendo a expansão horizontal e, na contemporaneidade o crescimento vertical. A grande movimentação de pessoas, serviços e capitais incentivaram os comerciantes a se instalarem em Imperatriz, onde tem destaque a expansão do comércio e a prestação de serviços como elementos decisivos para a expansão da malha urbana à configuração atual. Esse entendimento nos remete a importância de discutir a dinâmica da cidade e sua (re)produção via verticalização do espaço urbano. Neste sentido, o objetivo central do estudo em compreender o processo de verticalização de Imperatriz, secundariamente se engaja na tarefa de identificar a expansão deste processo no tecido urbano, observando o crescimento da cidade, a localização espacial da verticalização e os atores intervenientes para a construção deste cenário urbano. O estudo da verticalização imperatrizense é entendido como um dos caminhos para se entender a cidade, uma vez que este processo tem sua parcela de contribuição para o processo de restruturação urbana pelo qual a cidade tem passado. This essay consists of an eff ort aimed at understanding the verticalization process of urban space in Imperatriz/MA. We sought to identify the main theoretical bases regarding urban verticalization, to later present this process in the midst of urbanization in Empress, showing the performance of social agents such as real estate developers and government action in the context of socio-spatial changes that the city has undergone. Imperatriz is located in the southwest of Maranhão, being the second largest city in the state. From the 1950s onwards, it stood out in the south of the state, supported by its economic dynamics, in the construction of the Belém Brasília highway (BR-010) in addition to its excellent geographical position, which contributed to the consolidation of commercial activities between the southeast and southern Pará, northern Tocantins and the entire south-central of Maranhão, contributing to the dizzying urban growth of Imperatriz. Thus, the central area soon became fi lled, favoring horizontal expansion and, in contemporary times, vertical growth. In this sense, the central objective of the study in understanding the verticalization process of Imperatriz, secondarily engages in the task of identifying the expansion of this process in the urban fabric, observing the growth of the city, the spatial location of verticalization and the intervening actors for the construction of this urban setting. The study of empress verticalization is understood as one of the ways to understand the city, since this process has its share of contribution to the urban restructuring process that the city has been going through.
