摘要：Describes the cycle of collection’s development, considering the physical and digital supports. It presents the particularities of the development of legal collection’s development and explains the influence of these characteristics in the analysis of the obsolescence of legal information, in the weeding, in cooperation, in the user's preference between paper or electronic information, in the examination of unofficial information sources, and the completeness of the collection. It points out the role of consortia in the disposal and selection processes. It concludes by stating the coexistence of physical and digital supports. It considers that the selection should prioritize up-to-date publications and with a level of specificity according to the user's needs. It argues that the acquisition must balance between available resources and the extensive offer of the publishing market, the evaluation must be continuous and the weeding must consider the historicity of the books.
