摘要:Urban development and increasing population concentrations put natural city environments under great pressure. Negative trends in city structure and spatial planning decrease the natural environment and thus contribute to the negative impacts of climate change. The most serious impacts of climate change in cities include extreme long-term heat waves causing drought, and torrential rain episodes bringing floods. For sustainable urban development and reduction in the negative impacts of climate change, it is important to contribute to ecological stability using the microclimatic functions of green infrastructure and thereby improving the quality of city life. The aim of this paper is to highlight the importance of ecosystem services in urban areas, with special focus placed on microclimate regulation. With appropriate spatial planning and management of green areas, these ecosystems can bring many important environmental, social and economic benefits for the city. Here, we emphasise the important role that plant physiology plays in providing ecosystem services with green infrastructure. We also discuss the possible use of the concept of payments for ecosystem services in urban management and future trends in urban development.
